A day in the life of...

Have you ever wondered what roles are represented at Bauer? Have you ever thought about how your "normal" day compares to the normal day of others? In our series "A day in the life of" we uncover what a typical day looks like for our employees in our four different Business Areas and markets.

In this edition, we take a road trip to Germany to spend the day with Leslie Anne Schraut, Social Media Editor for Bauer Germany's magazine AUTO ZEITUNG.

Thanks for sharing your day with us, Leslie!

... Leslie Anne Schraut

I’m sleeping in a bit more these days…

…I used to get up at 7:30am, but since the Covid-19 pandemic struck, I work from home more and have been able to sleep in about an hour longer on those working from home days.

If I’m going into the office, I prep myself the night before...

…It takes some time for me to get out of my bed. So, I like to prepare things (like my clothes) the day before to be quicker in the morning. Filling up my coffee mug-to-go is one of the most essential things. My coffee mug is my best friend on my way to work. I prefer to eat my breakfast between 10.00am and 11.00am at work.

I work at a magazine called AUTO ZEITUNG…

…So no surprises that, when I’m working in the office, I drive there by car.

A successful start to the day for me involves…

…Waking up early enough to have time for a good styling!

I’m straight into social media the moment I get to work…

…While my computer is starting up, I check my notifications on @LeslieandCars – the Instagram account I manage. Through this account, our brand opens up to a younger audience. I do photoshoots and create videos using many different cars: from small to big and from slow to superfast. In the videos, I present cars on a more basic level than my collegues do in their written articles. My audience does not need any car knowledge to follow my explanations. I want to create content that is not only informative, but also entertaining. Occasionally, I also write short articles about cars.

A lot of people don’t realise that...

...@LeslieandCars actually belongs to Bauer Media and that it takes a LOT of personal effort to run.

Driving new and fancy cars is the best part of my job…

…I’ve had so many good experiences in my job, like the time I travelled to Tokyo, or when I was allowed to drive the Mercedes Vison AVTR prototype. Every now and then, I get to drive a cool car on a racetrack! Sometimes my whole job is a highlight!

The worst part is…

…When my MacBook starts to bug as I’m cutting a video.

I interact with Instagram followers a lot…

…Almost as much as I do with my colleagues. I don’t have meetings every day.
There are two meetings scheduled per week - one on Tuesday and one on Thursday. There’s not too much strict routine to my week, other than the fact I usually prepare feed posts for @LeslieandCars on Mondays. The rest of the week is flexible. I usually have to record videos with cars, implement customer bookings, cut videos, do photoshoots etc.

I don’t do lunch breaks...

…I prefer to leave work earlier instead. I just snack on food I’ve brought from home while I work. My favourite snacks contain chocolate!

I finish work between 5.00pm-5.30pm...

…Then it’s dinner time. If possible, I like to have dinner with my friends. It one of the ways I unwind from a day at work… Followed by a hot shower and a good movie.

Bedtime for me is between 11.30pm and midnight...

…The fact that every day is different and full of new experiences inspires me to get up in the morning and do it all again!
