Radio and TV
Radio and television offer strategically important additions to the product ranges of media companies. The Bauer Media Group is well positioned in this market with activities in the UK and Poland and with long-standing participating interests in radio and television stations in Germany, including Radio Hamburg and RTL II.
In the UK the media company is the second-biggest radio provider: A total of 42 programmes are broadcast on the Bauer Radio Network via VHF, digital, satellite and internet in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. In 20 of 21 regional markets, Bauer Radio Network member stations rank number one.
With around eleven million inhabitants and over 40 radio stations, London is one of the most competitive radio markets in Europe. The Bauer radio station Magic 105.4 is the most listened to commercial radio station in the British capital.
The UK is a pioneer in digital television in Europe, with 92 per cent of all households receiving digital TV. In the UK, the Bauer Media Group operates seven digital music TV stations via cable, satellite and on free TV in a joint venture with Channel 4, one of the country’s leading television stations. The seven multi-platform stations The Box, smashhits!, Kerrang!, Q, Kiss 100, Magic and 4Music belong to the Box Television portfolio. These seven stations are broadcast in eight countries around the world.
In Poland the Bauer Media Group clusters three radio stations under the parent brand Grupa RMF (Radio Muzyka Fakty): RMF FM, RMF Classic and RMF MAXXX. The national station RMF FM celebrated its 20-year anniversary in 2010 and is the number-one radio station in Poland. The premium radio station RMF Classic is broadcast in 14 of the biggest Polish cities. RFM MAXXX is the most dynamically developing radio network in Poland. It combines 18 radio stations in 31 cities.
With approximately 11 million listeners daily, Grupa RMF has an share of 31,1 per cent of the Polish radio market. Beyond that, the RMF group internet radio platform miastomuzyki.pl comprises an additional 72 stations online.
